UKCA marking: entry into force

The UKCA marking was introduced on January 1, 2021 but will be mandatory from January 1, 2025 for the vast majority of products and from July 1, 2025 for medical devices and construction products.

December 31, 20277, will be the last day that UKCA marking is allowed via a sticky label.

As of January 1, 2028 the UKCA logo will have to be affixed (please follow the instructions below) on the product itself or on the packaging, depending on the applicable regulations.

The 5 Fundamental Rules of UKCA Marking

  • The UKCA logo must be clearly visible and legible when affixed to the product. If this is not possible, it must appear on the packaging or in the accompanying documentation.
  • Making responsible is the manufacturer or her Authorized Representative (if the legislation allows it).
  • Carrying out the UKCA marking means assuming full responsibility for the conformity of the product to the applicable legislation.
  • The UKCA logo can only be affixed to products that belong to the areas of application of the UKCA marking. Therefore products such as furniture or cosmetics are excluded.
  • The UKCA logo has to have a minimum size of 5mm, the letters have to keep the same proportions and a particular color is not required.

In general, the marking has to be done in the clearest way and without generating confusion for the consumer.

You can download the UKCA logo from the official website of the British government.
